The making of maple products!
Milroy Farms

Preparation begins in summer when slab wood from a nearby sawmill is stacked.  This is the next sugar season's fuel.

In January preparation for the actual season begins.  A network of plastic tubing is used to collect sap from maples on the hillsides.

Here tubing is being placed.

In Mid February, when daytime temperatures climb above freezing, the maple trees are tapped.  A hole about 7/16" in diameter and 3" in depth is drilled in the tree.

Sap flows from the trees through a tubing network to collection tanks.

Collecting sap the old fashioned way.

Sap is pumped into the tank truck
and brought to the Sugar House.
