Marian A. Garlitz, 81, of Avilton, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.

Born Dec. 21, 1922 in Springs, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Lulu (Durst) Kemp. She was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Holler; and two brothers, Jack Kemp and Robert Rabbit Kemp.

Mrs. Garlitz was a member of Old St. Ann’s Shrine, Avilton. She was a homemaker and enjoyed photography and pets. Her home was an open door to any stray child or animal.

She is survived by her husband, Ellis C. Garlitz; five sons, Paul Garlitz and Robert Garlitz, both of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Dale Garlitz, Hagerstown, David Garlitz, Avilton and Jack Garlitz, Frostburg; one daughter, Elaine Meyers, Oakland; two brothers, Bud Kemp, Meyersdale, Pa. and Don Kemp, Salisbury, Pa.; three sisters, Loretta Burkholder, Garrett, Pa., Jean Smith, Butler, Pa. and Betty Bolden, Meyersdale, Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Kenney officiating.

Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
