Betty Kathryn Beachy, 68, of 9127 Lamaze Road, Baltimore, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Hospice of Baltimore at Gilchrist Center. Born Aug. 25, 1931, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of Pearl (Bittinger) Brenneman, Salisbury, Pa., and the late Sherman Brenneman.

Mrs. Beachy was a self-employed genealogist and authored eight books on the subject. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the National Genealogical Society, and the Garrett Co., Allegany Co., and Somerset Co., (Pa.) Historical Societies. She was also the valedictorian of the Salisbury-Elk Lick High School Class of 1949.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, William V. Beachy; two daughters, Terri Lynn Smith and husband, Phil, Hampstead; Dr. Natalie Anne Purvis and husband, Alan, Westminster; and two grandchildren, Ashley Anne Smith, and Clay Alan Purvis.  
 
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, P.A., Grantsville, on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Crispell, officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery
